I write again with good news that a proposal to convert garages and an extension at 15 Wattendon Road into eight semi-detached houses, along with access, parking and landscape, was refused permission by officers on 30th November.
I am delighted planning decisions are now being properly made – either by the Planning Committee or officers – after careful consideration and with respect to well-reasoned objections. This proposed conversion was found to represent a significant overdevelopment of the site and would fail to respect the character of the area.
We need more homes, particularly for younger people. But it is imperative that those homes are appropriate for the area. I am so pleased that the character of our neighbourhood is at long last being protected.
