Supporting the rental sector

I believe in supporting a thriving private rented sector which works for tenants and landlords alike. That’s why I am glad that the government recently introduced the Renters (Reform) Bill to Parliament.

The Renters (Reform) Bill contains multiple vital measures which will help create a fairer rental market in London and across the country. It will increase security for tenants by abolishing Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, which can deter tenants from challenging poor practice or unfair rent increases in fear they will be forced out of their home.

Further measures set out in the Bill include the creation of a Privately Rented Sector Ombudsman, impartial, and binding resolutions to many issues in the sector, and avenues for challenging unfair rent increases.
