PM backs brownfield development

Yesterday’s planning announcements by the Prime Minister are a much-needed boost for brownfield development, which is being made much easier. I hope Croydon Council now respond by desisting from concreting over every inch of green space they can find.

For a very long time now, I have been calling on the council to operate on a Brownfield First policy. The council should not destroy any family homes until all the brownfield sites in the Borough have been used – which we are at least 10 years away from doing. It is absolutely possible for the council to build the housing we need, without targeting green spaces.
