The Sandilands tram tragedy happened three years ago. The horrific crash claimed victims and love ones from across the whole borough. Its effects have left a tangible mark on everyone living in the community.
A report into how to prevent this from ever happening again has suggested new safety features that I welcome. Importantly, this includes an automatic braking system for tight corners that will stop similar tragedies from happening in the future.
These are due to be implemented at the end of the year.
