New Government Funding for Waddon Homes

Following a successful bid from Mayor Jason Perry and Croydon Council, I am delighted that the Government has awarded our Borough £1.1 million to help residents keep their properties warm and reduce the cost of their energy bills.

The funding will see 110 council homes in Waddon refurbished with high-quality insulation, new external doors and windows, mechanical ventilation, and more efficient radiator controls. The homes selected for the project were all built in the 1930s and are known for being hard to heat in the winter.

I know that the rising cost of energy bills has left many residents in a difficult position, which is why I regularly meet with ministers to discuss innovative ways to help keep bills down. This particular investment comes from the new Department for Energy and Net Zero’s Social Housing and Decarbonisation Fund, and will future-proof homes whilst making them better places for residents to live.
