I write again with good news that a proposal to convert an existing family home at 33 Lower Barn Road to a block of five flats, along with off-street parking and landscaping, was refused permission by officers on 23rd November.
I am delighted planning decisions are now being properly made – either by the Planning Committee or officers – after careful consideration and with respect to well-reasoned objections. This proposed development was found to be a significant overdevelopment of the site owing to its footprint, bulk and depth.
We need more homes, particularly for younger people. But much needed family homes in green suburbs should not be destroyed to make way for flats better suited to town centres and closer to central London. I am so pleased that the character of our neighbourhood is at long last being protected.
