Yesterday, the Lion Green Road car park in Coulsdon closed for re-development. This has been planned for over a year, and yet despite promises the council has not put in place proper measure to provide alternative parking places in Coulsdon. This will cause complete parking chaos in Coulsdon and will seriously damage businesses whose customers and staff will not be able to park. The council needs to take urgent action to find alternative spaces.
The CALAT car park was supposed to be ready for emergency use, but this is in fact not yet ready. I believe that this needs to be made available immediately. On street Parking restrictions in the town centre should be lifted while the Lion Green Road car park is shut, and the council should approach TfL again about using the bus lane on Farthing Way for parking, which is totally empty and no buses use it.
I will continue to press the council and TfL for an immediate resolution.
