Yesterday, at DCMS questions in Parliament, I answered a question on encouraging the BBC to play the national anthem at the end of regular broadcasting. In the year of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we should be proud to sing our national anthem with pride. The national anthem, along with flying the Union Jack, brings a strong sense of national unity – the more we have of it, the better.
