As part of my work as our local MP, I work with a range of local community organisations, including residents’ associations, local business groups and more.
This includes the Friends of South Croydon Rec (FOSCR), who have been an excellent voice for improving the grounds, and do outstanding work in championing the area and protecting it for the local community. This includes working with Croydon Council and other organisations to secure funding for hedgerow planting and water butts, and restoration and preservation, as well as organising community litter picks and other events.
I am sure I speak for everyone when I say a huge thank you to the current and past Chairs, Officers and Committee for the fantastic work they have done over the years. This work is carried out in their spare time and makes a huge positive difference to our neighbourhood.
Unfortunately, the FOSCR are now in desperate need of new willing volunteers to help with the valuable work they undertake. In conjunction with Tom, the current Chairman, I wanted to highlight these vacant Committee roles to the local neighbourhood.
The Recreation Ground has been a part of our community since 1895 and the home to many local cricket and football matches, as well as band performances throughout the summer. Now it is used by families, friends, dog walkers, sports teams and runners alike.
