I am delighted that Westfield has now reaffirmed its intention to regenerate Croydon Town Centre, which, I’m sure you will agree, is much needed. This significant step forward sends a clear message that Westfield remains committed to upgrading the Whitgift Centre into a facility fit for the 21st century.
It is important to ensure that Croydon Town Centre both meets the needs of our community and is an attractive place to visit. That’s why I have had countless meetings over the years with Westfield, Croydon Council, and various government ministers to drive forward the redevelopment.
I am pleased that we are now seeing some progress here and would like to congratulate Mayor Perry for his work in helping to get the project back on track. I look forward to working with residents on this to restore pride in our Borough.
