Council’s Failed Waste Collections Continue

I am shocked by Croydon Council’s continued failure to collect residents’ waste on time. Across the borough, numerous calls from residents have not resulted in an improved standard of service. On Montana Close in South Croydon, for example, food waste bins remained uncollected for extended periods last year and represented a clear health hazard. Uncollected waste attracts vermin, is unhygienic and, apart from anything else, smells vile.

The council is clearly not listening to the serious concerns of residents. I am disappointed to read of countless people who have reported missed collections via their My Croydon account, only to be told that their bins were collected. It is a shame that Croydon Council has proven so inadequate in providing such an essential service. Everyone can agree that residents deserve better than this. I will continue to put pressure on Croydon’s Labour council to restore frequent and timely waste collections. As ever, if you have been affected by this poor standard of service, please do not hesitate to contact me via chris.philp.mp@parliament.uk.
