Health Care for Hampstead

Chris Philp organised and chaired a meeting with the Royal Free's Chief Executive David Sloman. Members of the public asked questions about the key issues that face our neighbourhood's health care.

The Royal Free's decision to stop providing emergency stoke care was a major point of concern. Mr Sloman explained the logic behind the changes and guaranteed that a full review of the effects of the closure would be undertaken in six months time.

The potential of the A&E and Maternity units closing at the Whittington were also discuss. Mr Sloman reported that there were other options available to the Whittington other than closing the units completely. However, if the closures do happen he said that detailed plans to ensure that quality of care at the Royal Free remained constant would be drawn up.

Chris said "I share the concerns of residents about our healthcare. Tonight's meeting was a way to bring the hospital's staff and the public closer together to discuss what the future holds."
