Southern Rail refund update
02/12/2016 15:48:00

I am very pleased that the Government has agreed to my request for a 1 month refund for season ticket holders. This is a small gesture to recognise the misery and chaos that Southern has caused to commuters’ lives on a daily basis.

More needs to be done however. As a top priority I am calling on the Government to break the strikes that are planned over the Christmas period, secondly I am lobbying for immediate extra infrastructure investment to fix points and signals, thirdly I believe GTR should lose the franchise and fourthly I would like to see digital signals and track widening around East Croydon. I am seeing the Secretary of State pretty much weekly on this issue so that I can stress to him how important this is and the scale of the impact that Southern’s service is having on people’s lives. I have also been to see the Chancellor at Number 11 to ask for more funding.
