Monday 17 October - the last day to have your say on the Local Plan
17/10/2016 15:01:00

My letter to residents:

Dear All,

Many thanks to the 4,315 residents who have signed the petition asking for changes to Croydon’s draft Local Plan. I will be sending the petition in today.

Thank you also if you have sent in comments directly to the council. The more residents who submit comments directly the better – even if you have signed the petition. Today is the last day (deadline: midnight tonight, Monday 17th, as per my previous emails) to submit comments so please do send these in now if you haven’t already done so.

The current draft of the local plan still has some things that I have objected to:

•             A 16 floor skyscraper in Purley – which will change the character of the local area as the next tallest building is only 5 floors high

•             A Gypsy and Travellers site next to the Purley Oaks recycling Centre – which is inappropriate for traffic reasons and due to the proximity of residential properties

•             Downgrades to the Green Belt protection currently enjoyed by Sanderstead Plantation, Croham Hurst Woods and Purley Downs Gold Course – which are vital parts of our green open spaces and need protecting

•             Provision for “intensification” (i.e. more and larger buildings) to parts of Godstone Road in Kenley, near the centre of Sanderstead and around Brighton Road in South Croydon – which is wrong because it could change the character of these areas

We have one last chance to have our say. These representations will be considered not by the Council, but by an independent Planning Inspector. You can make representations by emailing your comments to: ldf@croydon.gov.uk.

Please note that:

 a) the deadline is midnight on Monday 17th October;
 b) you must give your name and an email or postal address; and
 c) simply saying you don't agree with something won't do any good – you have to give your reasons (please feel free to use the reasons in the bullet points above)

You can read my full submission at:

Please also feel free to lift any sections which you agree with!

I hope that we can secure further changes to the Local Plan. Our lobbying earlier this year has already changed some parts of it for the better.

Kind regards,

Chris
