£12 million government investment in Croydon healthcare
28/03/2018 11:19:00

The Government is increasing funding in Croydon’s healthcare services by £11.94 million.

An expected £9.79 million is being allocated to prepare local NHS services for future population growth and to improve out of hospital care.

A further £2.149 million is expected to consolidate funding procurement for local NHS services more efficient.

Currently there are three separate funding procurement services across south west London, which will be combined into a single organisation. The decision was made following recommendations from the Carter Report that NHS services would be improved by standardising practice.

The government’s further £9.79 million will go through the One Croydon Alliance Out of Hospital Transformation Programme in order to improve out of hospital care. These additional funds will mean that many patients will no longer have to stay in hospital to receive the treatment that they need.

I strongly welcome this investment from the Government into NHS services in Croydon. The changes being made mean that local services will be able to secure the funding they need in a more efficient way – which will benefit residents and the local NHS.

An additional £10 million will go directly to improving local NHS services. This money will allow patients to get the care they need without having to stay in hospital away from home. It will also mean that more hospital beds will be available in the future, which will accommodate the needs of Croydon’s growing population.
